Live MusicBlock 15 Live Music Manifesto
There is something about live music that invokes the soul, brightens a mood, stimulates emotions, and makes ones body move. Block 15 is pleased to feature live musicians from time to time. Really, there is no rhyme or reason to the times and musicians we have grace our pub, rather when a sporadically placed light pops on in our head, or the random relationship with musicians we feel fits our vibe, we decide to let it play. What does Block 15 sound like? Maybe some funky jazz, soul felt blues, dancing zydeco, ripping bluegrass, or something completely unique you can’t put your finger on. With our interesting seat layout you can find yourself right in the midst of the music, or maybe up in the mezzanine over a conversation and a pint of craft beer with the music complementing your experience in the background. Music here is always free; we just don’t like the idea of charging people to come through our doors. Keep an eye out on this page and posters at Block 15, this way you will know when the live music energy will be flowing through the place!
Blues, Brews, and BBQ
Join us each Wednesday in July and August for great live Blues music, house smoked BBQ, and cold craft beer! Music starts at 7:00pm and plays until 9:30. See below for our outstanding line up!
Wednesday August 13th
Terry Robb, 7pm
Guitar virtuoso Terry Robb – 18 time winner of the Cascade Blues Association’s Muddy Award – is one of the most heralded players of the flourishing Pacific Northwest blues scene. Robb is that rare talent, a musician’s musician and an enormously popular performer. Onstage, his fleet fingers, wry humor, and intense focus mesmerize audiences. The passionate artistry of a Terry Robb event – whether a solo acoustic performance or a high-energy show with his electric band – often leaves new and longtime fans with mouths agape.
Wednesday August 20th, 7pm
Mark Lemhouse
Mark Lemhouse plays with a guitar style that echoes Beale Streets acoustic blues legends, but in service to a distinctly contemporary songwriting voice filtering the emotion of Hank Williams Sr. through the attitude of Tom Waits. He quickly set himself apart from the traditionalist pack, earning recognition as a top-shelf songwriter and guitar player. His debut album, Big Lonesome Radio, earned two 2004 W.C. Handy Award Nominations for Acoustic Album of the Year and Best New Artist Debut.
Saturday August 16th 10pm
Poitín and Stout
Poitín and Stout formed to fill the void of raucous Irish music in Corvallis. Drawing their influences from the likes of the Pogues, Flogging Molly, Dubliners, Wolfe Tones, Amadán, and Dropkick Murphys, Poitín and Stout play traditional Irish standards with a refreshing passion and energy. Their instruments are strictly acoustic, but their sound is so electric that even the soberest in the audience will be stomping their feet and shouting along with each rousing chorus. You will forget that St. Patricks Day comes but once a year!
Wednesday August 27th, 7pm
Walker T Ryan
Some Muddy Waters and even a little Bob Dylan creep into the shadows of Ryan\'s compositions, but he has definitely hammered out his own country blues style. His lyrics are simple and follow him up and down the coast, and in and out of relationships. His guitar carries his songs as he glides back and forth from picking to sliding.
Onstage, Ryan is both expressive and incredibly admirable of his art. He and his Delta Mystics use blues as a home base while wandering in and out of ragtime and folk. They dont (sing) songs about their women leavin, or tippin the bottle until its empty. They makes blues you can wiggle to
